Allison & Colton’s Engagement Session in Concan, TX
Some sessions come together with a little extra intention — and this one was no exception. Allison and Colton’s engagement session had been on the calendar for two months, planned to take place on her family’s beautiful ranch near Concan, Texas, not far from Garner State Park. They made the long drive in from College Station, excited to soak in the Hill Country views and capture this special season in their lives.
Originally, we planned to shoot on Saturday. But as the weekend neared, the weather showed nothing but clouds. I’ve known Allison for a while, and I knew she was hoping for that dreamy golden sunlight. So I gave her my honest advice: let’s shift to Sunday and hope the skies open up. She trusted me, rearranged their plans, and thankfully — the sun *did* come out.
We started at 2:30 PM on Sunday and spent three full hours exploring the ranch. With a few outfit changes and lots of time to roam, we made the most of every angle. We traveled between locations on an ATV, adding an adventurous flair to the afternoon. It was hot — classic Texas heat — but Allison and Colton handled it like pros. They were up for anything and it showed in every photo.
One of my favorite moments came toward the end of the session. We made our way down to the water, and yes, I got *in*. Full-on, camera-ready, feet in the river. Because when the light hits just right and the couple is this in love, you go all in — literally.
This session flew by, filled with laughter, sweet glances, and so many memories made in a place that already holds so much meaning for Allison and her family. It was a reminder that the best sessions aren’t always perfect on paper — but with a little flexibility, a lot of heart, and just the right amount of sun, they turn out better than imagined.
