Finding My Way in Big Bend

When I first began photographing Big Bend, I wasn’t a novice—I knew how to use my camera, how to chase good light, how to compose a beautiful image. But what I didn’t yet understand was the power of storytelling. That’s what Big Bend brought out of me.

There’s something about this place—its vast silence, its layered textures, its wild and untouched spirit—that invites more than just a photograph. It calls for feeling. For pause. For connection. The desert doesn’t rush you. It teaches you to wait, to observe, and to honor what’s in front of you.

With each visit, I found myself less focused on perfection and more drawn to presence. I began noticing the subtle shifts of light across the canyon walls, the way the wind carried through the grasses, the quiet moments between people exploring the land. Slowly, Big Bend helped me tap into a deeper way of seeing—one that wasn't about what the photo looked like, but about what it meant.

Now, my wedding photography has evolved into something richer—more rooted in storytelling and a deep sense of place. I’m drawn to couples and families who crave meaningful moments over grand productions, and Big Bend feels like the perfect backdrop for that. I’m now booking family sessions, weddings, and elopements here, for those who feel that same pull toward wild beauty, intimacy, and connection. There’s truly nothing like beginning your story in a place that feels untouched, sacred, and full of soul.

This place shaped me. It taught me to tell stories with my work. Stories that carry emotion, memory, and heart. Big Bend holds a piece of my heart because it helped me uncover mine.

And no matter how far my journey as a photographer takes me, Big Bend will always feel like home.
